Terminal posts (corners, ends, gate posts) are heavier 2-3/8 in diameter pipes that anchor fabric tension. Line posts are lighter 1-7/8 in pipes that support the top rail.
What is the maximum post spacing for chain link fence?
Ten feet is the standard maximum spacing between line posts. In high-wind areas or with privacy slats installed, reduce spacing to 8 feet.
How deep should chain link terminal posts be set?
Terminal posts should be set at least 30 to 36 inches deep in concrete. Line posts can be set 24 to 30 inches deep.
What fittings go on top of chain link line posts?
Line posts receive eye loop caps that allow the horizontal top rail pipe to slide smoothly through while capping the hollow post against rainwater.

How much concrete is needed for chain link fence posts?

Can you drive chain link posts into the ground without concrete?
Line posts can be driven 3 to 4 feet into dense soil using a pneumatic driver, but terminal corner and gate posts should always be set in concrete footings.
How do you calculate posts when gates are included?
Each walk gate requires two terminal gate posts. A double swing driveway gate also requires two heavy-wall gate posts on either side of the opening.
